Data loggers for remote data collection & long-term monitoring
The company OTT Hydromet GmbH is a leading expert in the field of sensors and data acquisition systems offering professional solutions for measuring and monitoring the water quality, quantity and telemetry of the entire natural water cycle in the fields of Hydrometry, Hydrogeology, Meteorology and environmental technology.
In order to develop low power web connected data loggers for use in hydrology and meteorology stations, the company OTT Hydromet GmbH took advantage of the entire EUROS technology portfolio: EUROS RTOS, EUROS Development Environment, EUROS Web Server, as well as the EUROS File System, EUROS USB Host Software, diverse device driver packages like serial, I2C, USB, Ethernet, SPI, GPIO, audio and a customized board support package (BSP) including extensive use of the EUROS engineering services. Functions such as remote maintenance, remote control, remote update and remote diagnostics could be implemented by using a variety of EUROS communication protocols like TCP/IP, HTTPS, HTTP, SMTP, FTP, DHCP, NTP, POP3, PPP, SSL and TLS.
A special challenge was to establish a stable and reliable web services connection to all different internet and mobile networks provider spread all over the earth surface: from Australia over Europe to South and North America and adhering to the highest security standards based on the TLS 1.2 security protocol.
Another challenge for the EUROS RTOS was always to keep the device running in the low possible power mode in order to the save energy for the application thus extending its operation range for more than 10 years.
Sometimes the OTT Hydromet GmbH devices are placed in the wild nature outside of any human reach and are expected to deliver reliable services over years. Metrax
Beating the pulse of live:
Professional life saving defibrillators for emergency medicine
Metrax is an innovative medical technology company offering professional and automatic external defibrillators (AEDs).
EUROS supported the company Metrax by developing Primedic HeartSave AED and Primedic DefiMonitor XD product families. An AED is programmed to recognize life-threatening heart rhythms and generates an electric shock to restore a normal cardiac rhythm. Since reliability and error free performance of the device are life-saving, functional requirements and the portability of the device requires efficient power consumption. The company Metrax was in need of a reliable, robust system, which ensures unrestricted functional capability, even under the toughest operating conditions and is able to optimize system resources such as power. Metrax selected the EUROS RTOS as a platform for this purpose, since it is compact, highly portable, extremely efficient and it supports a broad variety of communication mechanisms and protocol stacks. Furthermore Metrax took advantage of the EUROS Development Environment which helps to easily detect and eliminate programming errors.

A controller for efficient power management
L3 Magnet-Motor GmbH is one of the pioneers in the development of electric propulsion and power generation systems also widely used in the submarine construction.
By facing the challenges of the power management in computationally intensive applications and the environmental impact of power consumption from electronic systems, the goal of the company L3 Magnet-Motor GmbH was to develop an optimized controller for a submarine propulsion system, aiming at reducing the noise emissions and increasing the energy efficiency. With its powerful device driver interface and a scalable, object-oriented structure, implementing a state machine for optimizing the response time and providing transparency for the entire process of interrupt and exception handling, EUROS RTOS was the perfect candidate for the development of the latter.
The EUROS embedded TCP/IP stack handled the communication of the device with the corresponding nodes of the hybrid system. In addition, the offered EUROS debugging facilities have helped to localize and to solve emerged race-condition problems during the development process.
